Mother Blessing

A Mother Blessing is a wonderful ritual for the mother-to-be. It celebrates her upcoming birth of woman into motherhood or for experienced mothers - another pregnancy. It can be an alternative to a traditional baby shower . A Blessingway is an unique way to honor the mother.

The activities and elements of the ceremony should be meaningful to the mother being blessed, so activities may be added or left out according to your needs.

Activities include

Creating Birthing Bracelet or Necklace – this will serve as a reminder of all the love, support, and blessings you have received for your pregnancy, birth, baby, and life-long journey of motherhood.

Belly painting or belly casting

Pampering - an aromatherapy foot bath, a hand and foot massage, pedicure & manicure, hair adornment are acts of service to pamper and honor to the mother-to-be.

Candle Lighting - during this part of the ceremony, each guest is given an unlit candle. They will take this candle home with them and will light it when they get the call from the phone tree that she is in labor, sending her strength, support, and positive thoughts.

As your doula I offer organizing of Mother blessing ceremony for you and your closest friends & family members. I work together with you to identify what type of ceremony would best suit you.

I will provide materials for stringing your Blessing necklace or bracelet (guests provide the beads), materials for belly painting, footbath ingredients, flowers for hair adornment, and ceremony candle. I will facilitate the celebration and bring music (and incense if desired) to create a serene atmosphere. If you wish to do a belly cast there will be an additional fee for extra materials.

Mother blessing ceremony

"Thank you Helena for organising me the most special mothers blessing ceremony. I will never forget it and I will tell Jack all about it when he is older. I didn't really know what to expect when you first mentioned the idea but it by far exceeded all my expectations. For anyone pregnant who wants to celebrate their pregnancy and the transition into motherhood beyond the typical 'baby shower' where the emphasis is more on cute baby clothes and games, this is something really special. I was pampered by each of the women who attended and I received beads from loved ones around the world to make a birthing necklace which I wore when giving birth to Jack, knowing that I had the support of all my friends and family. It was simple and yet so heartfelt!"
